Video: Primary Day in New York State

By THE NEW YORK TIMES

Thursday was Primary Day in New York, and some state legislative and judicial races were on the ballot. Though primaries tend to attract a small number of races, some of the day's races could have national implications.

Three Republican state senators who voted in support of the legalization of same-sex marriage were being challenged from the right. New York was the first state with a Republican-controlled chamber to legalize same sex marriage, so the primary was being watched with interest.

In a TimesCast video, Michael Paulson, Metro's political editor, and Thomas Kaplan, Albany reporter, discuss the races on the ballot.
