Man, 21, Arrested in Murder of Bronx Gas-Station Worker

By ANDY NEWMAN

A 21-year-old parolee who has served time for robbery has been arrested in connection with last week's murder of a Bronx gas-station worker, the police said on Friday.

The man, Freddie McGrier, 21, of Harlem, has at least five prior arrests, the police said.

In a confrontation that was captured on video, the victim, Lamin Sillah, 28, a recent immigrant from Gambia, was working at RC Petroleum in East Tremont on the evening of Sept. 4 when a man in a hooded sweatshirt burst into the office wielding a gun.

Mr. Sillah tried to grab the gun from the robber's hand but the robber fired, striking him in the torso, and then shot him again as he lay on the ground.

An accomplice who acted as a lookout in the attack is still being sought.
