Lindsay Lohan had another automotive encounter with the law early Wednesday, this one in Chelsea, where she was arrested on charges of leaving an accident scene after the police said she struck a pedestrian's leg with her Porsche sport utility vehicle outside a hotel.
According to the police, Ms. Lohan, 26, was returning to the Dream Downtown Hotel on West 16th Street around 2:30 a.m. when she turned into the entrance to the hotel's parking garage, where several pedestrians were standing. Most of them moved out of the way, but a 34-year-old-man did not, and Ms. Lohan's 2010 Porsche Cayenne struck him, the police said.
Ms. Lohan went into the hotel, remained for a whil e, and walked back out, at which point she was arrested, the police said. The pedestrian claimed to have a knee injury and was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center, the police said. He was treated and released, The Associated Press reported.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a misdemeanor. Ms. Lohan was given a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 23, The A.P. reported. No one picked up the phone at the office of her publicist, Steve Honig, Wednesday morning.
Ms. Lohan, who has been filming âScary Movie 5â in Atlanta lately, has been in New York for a few days. Last Thursday, according to published reports, she attended Lady Gaga's masked ball at the Guggenheim Museum, where she âfreaked outâ upon running into Paris Hilton. On Saturday, according to reports, she attended her mother's 50th birthday party at a restaurant on Long Island, where according to the manager, she had a double vodka and club soda.
On Wednesday, the p olice said, Ms. Lohan, who has a drunken-driving record, was not administered a breath test because she did not appear intoxicated.
Ms. Lohan's most recent car accident was on June 8 in California. She remains on informal probation for taking a necklace last year from a Los Angeles jewelry store.
