Several readers have asked what became of the dog we wrote about Monday who was captured on a security camera being beaten by a man in the elevator of an East Harlem housing project.
The dog, a pit bull named Hazel who is about a year old, is âdoing O.K.â and is being cared for at the city's main animal shelter on East 110th Street, said Richard P. Gentles, a spokesman for Animal Care and Control of New York City, which runs the shelter.
Hazel is not available for adoption because the police are still conducting their investigation into her abuse, Mr. Gentles said. But when the police wrap up their work, she may be available, he said.
