Updated, 11:49 a.m. | Two people were slashed and another injured in a dispute that began on a rush-hour subway train in Queens and spilled out onto a platform on Wednesday, transit officials said.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested in the attack, which happened at the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue station in Jamaica around 8:45 a.m., transit officials said. The victims' injuries were not considered life threatening, said Kevin Ortiz, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The woman, Dina Saint-Fleur, got into an argument with a 24-year-old woman and her 34-year-old boyfriend on the J train heading into the station, Mr. Ortiz said. They all got off the train, and their dispute continued on the escalator in the station. Ms. Saint-Fleur cut both people in the left elbow, Mr. Ortiz said. A third victim, a 42-year-old, was also cu t, but possibly because he fell on the escalator during the commotion, Mr. Ortiz said.
A police spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said that the assailant âpulled the woman's hair, from behind, and slashed her with a knifeâ and that âthe boyfriend was also slashed.â
The Fire Department said its emergency medical technicians also treated a fourth person.
The E and J train platforms at the station, which is also served by the Long Island Rail Road and the Air Train to Kennedy International Airport, were closed after the incident but have been reopened.
