Sixteen people were injured, four of them seriously, in an accident in Queens on Thursday afternoon involving a city bus, a school bus without passengers, and other vehicles, officials said.
About 2:20 p.m., the school bus collided with âseveral carsâ near 108th Street and the Horace Harding Expressway, before crossing a lane line and striking the front of a Q23 bus traveling in the opposite direction, according to Charles Seaton, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The 16 victims, whose ages and identities were not immediately released, were taken to Forest Hills Hospital, a spokesman for the Fire Department said. The four in serious condition were stable; the oth ers suffered minor injuries.
The spokesman said it was unclear what caused the accident.
