A Nod to an Underground Laborer

By LAURA PEDERSEN

Dear Diary:

Time: Noon, July 30.

Place: Times Square subway station, Lines 1-2-3.

A large rat is scavenging on the uptown No. 1 track prior to the train's arriving.

Guy No 1: “Look at that big rat!”

Guy No. 2: So what? “He's trying to make a living.”
