Dear Diary:
I recently had the pleasure of going to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx to see the exhibition âMonet's Garden.â As we approached the area, a very old memory came back to me.
I was reminded of a long-ago visit to the Bird House at the Bronx Zoo with my mother and sister. I can still picture the amazing variety of exotic birds flying around. All of a sudden, I became aware of loud voices crying, âMommy! Mommy!â Every mother in the place, including mine, started turning around with looks of dismay.
Suddenly we realized the source of the cries. They were coming from all the parrots, repeating a sound they heard all day long. I wonder how many other families experienced this surreal phenomenon.
