Dear Diary:
When I signed in at an exhibitor's booth at State Senator Liz Krueger's annual expo for senior citizens, the young woman at the desk noticed my year of birth and asked, âWere you in World War II?â
I answered, âYes; during World War II I was very proud to wear a U.S. Army uniform for more than three years,â fully expecting the usual response of âThank you for your service.â
Instead I got, âIt must have needed a good dry cleaning.â
Sic transit gloria mundi.
