As New Yorkers went to the polls Tuesday to vote in local, congressional and the presidential election, there were widespread reports of lengthy lines and inoperable scanning machines at polling places across the city. Metro political editor Michael Paulson put out a call for response.
We are hearing multiple reports of failed ballot scanners around NYC. What are you seeing as you go vote?

At least three scanners were not working at a polling station in Washington Heights, said Louise Schwarz:
@michaelpaulson There was only one functional ballot scanner at my Washington Heights polling place - at least 3 weren't working.

And Jonathan Newman, who waited an hour and a half in Harlem, said it was âunaccept ableâ that the scanners were also broken:

At Riverside Church, Jesse Appelman said his paper ballot was not even scanned:
@michaelpaulson My completed ballot was not scanned, just put straight through the slot into the bin. No explanation given.

George Tsinias reported from PS 194 in Queens that two more machines were not working:
